Shuttering Plywood

Home || Products

Shuttering plywood, also known as formwork plywood, is a dense, high-grade, waterproof plywood designed for use in the construction industry. It is used to create molds (called formwork or shuttering) that hold wet concrete in place until it sets and cures.

High-density and strength: Shuttering plywood is highly compressed during manufacturing, which gives it extra strength and durability to withstand the weight and vibration of wet concrete. Waterproof bonding: The wood veneers are bonded with a strong, waterproof adhesive, typically a Phenol Formaldehyde (PF) resin. This prevents the plywood from swelling, warping, or delaminating when it comes into contact with the moisture in the concrete.

Smooth surface: The surface is typically overlaid with a smooth phenolic film on both sides. This film provides a smooth, uniform finish to the cast concrete surface, reducing the need for extensive replastering.

Reusability: Due to its high durability and resistance to moisture and abrasion, good-quality shuttering plywood can be reused multiple times, which helps reduce overall project costs.

Thickness: Common thicknesses include 12mm and 18mm.
Size: The standard sheet size is 8 feet by 4 feet.
Weight: Shuttering plywood is often sold by weight, which is an indicator of its density and number of compressed layers. Common variants include 24kg, 30kg, and 34kg sheets for 12mm plywood.
